BLEPHAROPLASTY (EYELID SURGERY)

Eyelid surgery is an in-office surgical procedure that improves the appearance of the eyelids. Whether you are trying to treat under eye bags, loose or sagging skin, or drooping lower eyelids; Dr. Sholar will naturally contour the area surrounding your eyes for a more youthful look.

Just like other surgical procedures, medications and anesthesia are administered for your comfort. The incisions for eyelid surgery will be well concealed within the natural anatomy of the eyelid region.

You will begin to see your rejuvenated and refreshed result gradually after swelling and bruising subside.

OTOPLASTY

Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure to improve the appearance of a person’s ears. Although otoplasty does not affect hearing, it can provide great psychological benefits to those who have been teased about the size or shape of their ears, have had a serious ear injury, or simply want to improve their appearance.  Otoplasty typically serves two functions: setting prominent ears back closer to the head, and reducing the size of large ears. Patients of all ages usually feel back to normal after a few hours, although the ears may ache or throb for a few days. Prescription medication will be made available to help alleviate any discomfort.

SCAR REVISIONS

Scar revision surgery helps minimize scars so they can blend better with your skin’s tone and texture. Scars may be recessed or raised and of different color and texture from normal tissue.

Depending on the location, size, and type of your scar, Dr. Sholar will excise your old scar and meticulously repair the normal tissue. Minor scars may be better treated with minimally invasive treatments like laser resurfacing.

EARLOBE REPAIR

Earlobe reconstruction can repair split, ripped, stretched or unusually large or long earlobes. Injury to the earlobe can result from having heavy earrings, acute trauma, gauging, etc. Depending on your surgical needs, reconstruction can take different forms.

In all methods, the skin lining the slot is removed, followed by layered repair of the earlobe. Sutures are removed 7-14 days after the procedure.

LABIAPLASTY

Labiaplasty is a procedure that reduces the length of the labia minora. This procedure is commonly performed today and helps relieve symptoms that women experience from twisting and tugging of the labia when active and/or the aesthetic appearance of the labia.

Dr. Sholar’s goal is to reduce the labia minora so it does not hang below the labia majora. This procedure can be done under local anesthesia.

Most patients take a week off of activities for a smooth recovery – swelling will reduce several weeks after the procedure.

MOLE REMOVAL

Moles can appear at birth or later in life. While some moles may be removed for cosmetic reasons, other moles may be concerning for skin cancer.

Removal of moles is relatively easy. Dr. Sholar will use local anesthesia to numb it, followed by excision.

Depending on the depth of the mole, stitches will either be placed deeper in the wound and/or on the surface of the skin.  Stitches are removed after 7 days.

CYST REMOVAL

Cysts are closed sac-like capsule structures that are often filled with a semisolid keratinous material. Sebaceous cysts are the most common type requiring excision. They form when a pocket under the skin blocks the natural sloughing off cells to the surface.

A cyst begins small but can grow to a large size as more and more cells become trapped. Often, cysts are removed by an incision that is made in the skin overlying the cyst.
